Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr has said that Stephen Curry needs some rest. After playing hard for many weeks, the star player looks tired and needs a break.
Just two games after making NBA history by scoring his 4,000th career 3-pointer and three days after turning 37, Curry struggled during Monday’s 114-105 loss to the Denver Nuggets. His shooting was poor, and he looked low on energy.

“He is tired. Steph has carried us for a month, and he has been amazing,” Kerr said. “But now he needs some rest. You can see it – he doesn’t have his usual energy.”
Curry played for nearly 36 minutes. He scored 20 points, made seven assists, and grabbed four rebounds. However, he shot poorly, making only 6 of 21 field goals and 4 of 14 from 3-point range. He also had seven turnovers, which helped Denver score 24 points.
After the game, Curry said he didn’t feel his best. His voice was rough, and he said he was feeling a little stuffy. “I feel fine, but I didn’t play well at all,” Curry said. “Everyone, including coach, is trying to figure out why.”
Curry blamed himself for the turnovers, saying five of them were “unforced” and could have been avoided.
This season, Curry has been dealing with knee problems. His back has also been sore in recent games, making it harder for him to play at his best.
Warriors player Gary Payton II said that Curry’s role is very demanding. “We try to help him as much as we can,” Payton said. “But he always has someone guarding him tightly for the whole game. I’m sure he is a little tired.”
The Warriors will play against Milwaukee on Tuesday, but it is not clear if Curry will play or sit out. Kerr said he will talk to the team’s medical director, Rick Celebrini, before making a decision.
Curry has been playing a lot of basketball lately. On March 8, he became the 26th player in NBA history to score 25,000 points. A few days later, he hit his 4,000th 3-pointer against Sacramento. The next day, he celebrated his 37th birthday.
The Warriors are currently playing a seven-game series at home, which will end on Thursday against Toronto. Before their loss to the Nuggets, the team had won seven straight games. Since Curry’s new teammate, Jimmy Butler, joined the team on February 8, the Warriors have won 14 out of 16 games.
As the Warriors fight for a playoff spot, keeping Curry fit is very important. Kerr said he is seriously thinking about giving Curry a night off so he can rest and recover.
“He is very tired right now,” Kerr said. “We need to give him a break so he can get his energy back for the rest of the season.”
