The Sharjah Press Club, under the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB), has launched the sixth edition of its Ithmaar annual media training program, designed for children and adolescents aged 10 to 17. The program runs from July 8 to August 1, offering both theoretical and practical media training, along with interactive activities to enhance participants' media skills.

HE Alya Al Suwaidi, Director of SGMB, emphasized the bureau’s commitment to developing the Ithmaar program to meet high professional standards and cater to the media industry's needs. This initiative aims to build the capabilities of young participants, aligning with the vision of the Emirate of Sharjah and the policies of the United Arab Emirates.

The program's screening committee is currently interviewing potential candidates to select students based on specific criteria and guidelines. Successful applicants will be divided into two groups based on age: under 14 and over 14, to tailor the training effectively.

The Ithmaar agenda includes sharing experiences of past graduates and conducting field visits to various national and international media institutions. These activities aim to provide firsthand experience of the media industry, guided by experts from CNN Arabic, Sharjah Government Media Bureau, Sharjah Police General Command, and other government entities.

The first week focuses on media industry fundamentals, artificial intelligence journalism, and practical applications. The second week emphasizes journalistic writing skills, including the stages of writing, producing, and publishing news, and distinguishing facts from fake news. The third week covers public speaking, body language, and media communication skills, while the fourth week includes workshops on security media, speech and audio recording, and social media creativity.

Training sessions are held at the Rubu’ Qarn Foundation and Al Majaz Amphitheatre in Sharjah. Participants will also receive practical training in the Al Majaz Amphitheatre studio and visit the Arabian Radio Network and CNN Arabia headquarters in Dubai.

The Ithmaar program has been recognized for its excellence, winning the Kuwait Creativity Award for its role in developing a new generation of media professionals. Graduates have been honored at the International Government Communication Forum, reflecting the program's success in equipping young talents with essential media skills.

The SGMB continues to organize various programs and initiatives throughout the year to support the media sector and professionals, furthering the goal of fostering a technologically advanced and media-savvy generation in the UAE.
