SEC Amends Powers of Medical Committee in New Decision

Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and Chairman of the Sharjah Executive Council (SEC), led a significant meeting at the Sharjah Ruler’s Office. The session, held in the presence of Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Vice Chairman of the SEC, and Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Vice Chairman of the SEC, focused on several key governmental matters.

The SEC discussed various topics on its agenda, including the general policies guiding governmental work and reviewed performance reports from various governmental departments and entities. One of the major outcomes of the meeting was the issuance of a decision to amend the powers of the Sharjah Government Medical Committee.

The newly amended powers of the Medical Committee, as detailed in the decision, include:

1. Reviewing Employee Leaves: The committee is tasked with considering several types of leaves submitted by employees in line with Law No. (6) of 2015. This includes:

   • Sick leave
   • Leave for accompanying a patient undergoing treatment either domestically or abroad
   • Leave for being around a patient with an infectious disease
   • Intermittent sick leave for chronic illnesses
   • Any other leaves sanctioned by the Supreme Committee for Human Resources

2. Leave Approval and Adjustments: The committee has the authority to approve or reject the aforementioned leaves, or to amend their durations as deemed necessary.

3. Work Hour Adjustments: The committee can consider reducing working hours for certain categories of sick employees and approve these changes.

4. Specialist Consultations: The committee may seek opinions from specialist doctors if needed.

5. Coordination: It is tasked with coordinating with relevant authorities to achieve its objectives.

6. Additional Competencies: The committee may also undertake any other responsibilities assigned by the SEC.

Additionally, the SEC reviewed a comprehensive report on the performance of the general budget and the outputs of activities for the first half of 2024. This report included indicators of financial performance, actual expenditures, and revenues across various sectors such as social development, government administration, economic development, infrastructure, and capital projects.
