Elon Musk, the billionaire CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, has predicted the downfall of Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in the upcoming federal election, slated to take place on or before October 2025. Musk made the statement in response to a user’s plea for his help in removing Trudeau, declaring on X (formerly Twitter), “He will be gone in the upcoming election.”

The exchange began after a Swedish journalist shared an update about the collapse of the German government. The journalist reported that the German Socialist government had fallen, with talks of a snap election on the horizon. Musk responded by labeling German Chancellor Olaf Scholz a “fool” in German, writing “Olaf ist ein Narr,” which translates to “Olaf is a fool.”
In response to Musk’s comment, a user then turned to him for assistance with the situation in Canada, saying, “Elon Musk, we need your help in Canada getting rid of Trudeau.” Musk, who is no stranger to commenting on global politics, agreed with the sentiment, stating that Trudeau’s time in office would come to an end in the next election.
This isn’t the first time Musk has publicly criticized Justin Trudeau. Musk has frequently taken issue with Trudeau’s policies, particularly regarding free speech and government regulations. In 2023, the Canadian government introduced a requirement for online streaming services to register with the government for regulatory oversight, which Musk condemned as an attack on free speech. He described the move as “shameful,” asserting that Trudeau was trying to stifle free expression in Canada.
Musk’s criticisms of Trudeau go back even further. In February 2022, when Trudeau invoked emergency powers for the first time in Canadian history to respond to trucker protests against vaccine mandates, Musk made a controversial comparison. Musk posted a meme that depicted a photo of Adolf Hitler with the words “Stop comparing me to Justin Trudeau” above the image, and “I had a budget” below it. The post was later deleted.
Musk's remarks have sparked considerable debate, as his outspoken comments on political matters continue to draw attention both in Canada and internationally. His prediction of Trudeau’s political downfall adds fuel to ongoing discussions about the future of the Canadian Prime Minister’s leadership.
