North Korea has sent 3,000 more soldiers to Russia in January and February to help in the war against Ukraine. South Korea’s military said this on Thursday. North Korea is also sending weapons like missiles, artillery guns, and bullets to Russia. If the war continues, North Korea may send even more weapons.

Russia and Ukraine agreed to stop fighting in some areas, but both sides say the other is breaking the rules. Even with this, North Korea is still helping Russia. It has sent many short-range missiles, 170mm self-propelled guns, and about 220 multiple rocket launchers.

North Korea has sent about 11,000 soldiers to fight in the war. This is the first time North Korea is fighting in a big war since the Korean War (1950-1953). Reports say about 4,000 of its soldiers have died or been hurt.

South Korea’s spy agency says North Korean soldiers are not used to modern war. They do not know how to fight using drones and other high-tech weapons. Also, Russian commanders are sending them into battle without much help, so many are dying.

Even though many North Korean soldiers have died, Ukraine’s military says they are still learning from the war. These soldiers have been very important in Russia’s plan to win by sending large numbers of men into battles, especially in the city of Kursk.

Last week, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un met with Russia’s Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu. Kim promised that North Korea would keep supporting Russia in the war. Last year, Russia and North Korea signed a big defense deal to help each other.

Experts think Russia might give North Korea new military technology in return for their help. Some believe North Korea wants Russian knowledge to build better drones.

On Thursday, North Korean news said Kim watched tests of new spy drones and attack drones this week. He said these drones should be made in large numbers because they are very important for war.

Pictures in North Korean news showed Kim watching a big spy drone. It looked similar to the Boeing E-7 Wedgetail, an early-warning aircraft. Other pictures showed explosive drones crashing into military vehicles.

Reports say the spy drone was able to follow several targets at the same time. It could also watch enemy troops moving on land and sea. This could help North Korea gather secret information. The attack drones were said to have smart technology and could be used in different ways.

Kim was happy with the drone tests and said North Korea should focus on making more drones and using AI technology in its military. The tests happened at a special drone factory and a research center on Tuesday and Wednesday.

North Korea has shown explosive drones before. Kim watched similar tests in November and August last year.

When asked about the new spy drone, South Korea’s military said North Korea may have changed an old plane into this new drone. They also said some parts of the drone might have come from Russia. However, they think North Korea may be making the drone sound more powerful than it really is.

A South Korean military spokesperson said, "It looks big and heavy. We believe it can be easily shot down."
