Nikola Jokic Makes History With 30-20-20 Triple-Double in OT Win

Nikola Jokic made history in the NBA on Friday night after an amazing game against the Phoenix Suns. The Denver Nuggets won 149-141 in overtime, and Jokic became the first player in the league to get a 30-20-20 triple-double. He finished the game with 31 points, 21 rebounds, and 22 assists, setting a new career record for assists.

Despite his amazing performance, Jokic didn’t seem too excited. After the game, he sat in front of his locker, calmly looking at his phone. "It’s not supposed to go that way," Jokic said. "I was talking to Aaron Gordon, and he said, ‘That was a quiet 30 points.’ I didn’t do anything special. It just felt like everyone was playing well together."

Jokic also tied a team record for the most triple-doubles in a season. He got his 29th triple-double of the season just a minute into the second half when he grabbed his 10th rebound. By halftime, Jokic had already gotten 13 points, 9 rebounds, and 8 assists. He had a strong start, finishing the first quarter with 10 points, 6 assists, and 6 rebounds.

At 30 years old, Jokic is averaging a triple-double for the season, with 28.9 points, 12.9 rebounds, and 10.6 assists per game. He is ranked in the top three in the NBA for these stats.

Denver's coach, Michael Malone, praised Jokic for his special talent. "I can’t describe him, so don’t ask me to," Malone said. "Nikola is just an incredible player. There are a lot of great players in the NBA, but Nikola is in a class all by himself."

In overtime, Jokic helped the Nuggets win after almost losing a 21-point lead. He scored 5 points, grabbed 3 rebounds, and made 5 assists in the extra period. He helped his teammates by passing the ball to Jamal Murray for 2 baskets and to Christian Braun for a dunk and layup in just 13 seconds.

Christian Braun said, “He’s just one of a kind. You’ll never see anything like this again – ever. No one else does what he does every game.”
