He spoke during an important event at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. This event was about Gulf region studies and was planned with help from the Gulf International Forum and the Center for Contemporary Arab Studies. Many important people came to the event, such as U.S. government officials, members of Congress, think tank experts, teachers, and students.
Albudaiwi said trade between the Gulf countries and the U.S. was more than $90 billion in 2023. He also said the Gulf countries help keep world energy prices stable and help supply chains work better. He added that Gulf countries are investing a lot of money in the U.S., while many U.S. companies are now working in Gulf countries. This shows that both sides are working well together in business.
He also shared that more than 37,000 students from Gulf countries are now studying in American universities.
Albudaiwi said the Gulf region is growing fast. It has more than 57 million people, and almost half are younger than 30 years old. He said the region is young, hopeful, and ready for change.
He added, “The total money made by Gulf countries in 2023 was about $2.1 trillion. In the future, it could grow to $6 trillion by 2050.” He also said that the Gulf countries together have savings of over $700 billion and manage wealth funds of $3.2 trillion — which is one-third of such money in the whole world.
Even though the Gulf is a big name in oil and gas, Albudaiwi said the countries are now focusing on other things too. These include clean energy, computer and digital work, and space projects. He said the Gulf countries have big dreams and are planning for the long-term future.
At the end, Albudaiwi said that Gulf leaders want to keep working closely with the U.S. in many areas, both in governments and in business. He said this friendship is more than just deals — it is a strong bond built on common beliefs, shared learning, and a joint goal for the future.
