Empower & DMCC partner to provide sustainable cooling for Uptown Dubai

Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation PJSC (Empower), the world’s biggest provider of district cooling services, has officially partnered with DMCC (Dubai Multi Commodities Centre) to supply sustainable cooling to the next phase of Uptown Dubai. The project will have a cooling capacity of 24,675 refrigeration tons (RT) and will support DMCC’s goal of creating a smart, energy-efficient urban community.

The agreement was signed at DMCC’s headquarters in Uptown Tower, with the presence of Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman and CEO of DMCC, and H.E. Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Empower.

Uptown Dubai: A Smart and Sustainable Urban Destination

Uptown Dubai is a modern, world-class district designed to offer a unique mix of residential, commercial, retail, dining, and hospitality options. The area is being developed with a strong focus on sustainability and smart infrastructure. After the successful launch of Uptown Tower, the next phase will introduce two new premium commercial towers. The district is located in the heart of new Dubai, offering excellent connectivity to key landmarks across the city.

Empower has played a key role in cooling services for the area. Its JLT District Cooling project consists of four plants, three of which are already in operation. Once fully completed, these plants will have a total capacity of 152,000 RT, ensuring uninterrupted and efficient cooling for the entire district. The cooling plants are built with advanced technology that improves energy efficiency and reduces environmental impact, giving investors and developers confidence in Empower’s services.

Commitment to Sustainability

Speaking about the agreement, H.E. Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Empower, highlighted the importance of sustainable cooling. He said, “We are proud to expand our partnership with DMCC by providing environmentally friendly cooling services to the next phase of Uptown Dubai. This reflects our commitment to reducing carbon emissions and supporting the UAE’s sustainability goals.”

He also mentioned that Empower is already supplying 3,850 RT of cooling to Uptown Tower, ensuring energy-efficient cooling in line with international standards.
