Tech billionaire Elon Musk welcomed a batch of India's top business leaders to his SpaceX Starbase facility in Texas. During the visit, Musk mentioned that India-US relations are heading in the right direction and stated his support for stronger trade ties between the two countries.
The India Global Forum (IGF), a UK-based platform for policy discussions and events, led the delegation of Indian entrepreneurs as part of its expansion into the US. They had the opportunity to tour SpaceX's advanced space exploration facilities and witnessed the successful launch of SpaceX's Starship Flight 7.
During a discussion, Musk shared his thoughts on how both countries could work more closely, especially in the fields of technology and space exploration. He said, "Things are trending positive. I’m certainly in favour of lowering trade barriers to increase commerce between the US and India."
Musk also praised India, calling it “one of the ancient civilisations and a very great and very complex one.”

It comprised some of the top Indian business leaders from different sectors. The discussion was held with Musk and entrepreneurs about the growing role of technology and innovation in India's global presence.
This was done just days ahead of the inauguration of Donald Trump as the US President for a second term on Monday, with rumors going about that Musk might be inducted into the team of Trump as co-chair of the Department of Government Efficiency, DOGE.
Manoj Ladwa, Founder of IGF, underlined the significance of the event: "This event underlines the growing importance of collaboration between India and global pioneers in shaping a sustainable and technology-driven future." He also said that meaningful conversations are more important than ever, given the shift to a Trump presidency.
Ladwa added, "At India Global Forum, our mission is to bring together global leaders and innovators to tackle the defining challenges of our time. I believe India's rise presents limitless opportunities, and this meeting signifies the potential for powerful partnerships."
The IGF delegation that visited Musk's Starbase included notable business leaders like Prashant Ruia, Director of Essar Capital; Jay Kotak, Co-Head of Kotak811; Ritesh Agarwal, Founder and Group CEO of OYO; Kalyan Raman, CEO of Flipkart; Aryaman Birla, Director of Aditya Birla Management Corporation; Nilesh Ved, Chairman of Apparel Group; and bestselling author Amish Tripathi.
Before the visit to Starbase, the group had private meetings with members of the incoming Trump administration and other important US stakeholders. These discussions, part of IGF's launch in the US, were on areas such as digital infrastructure, technology, innovation, and foreign investment. The aim was to find ways to strengthen the partnership between the US and India.
