Elon Musk asks US court to block OpenAI's shift to for-profit model

Elon Musk has asked a U.S. court to stop OpenAI, the company that created ChatGPT, from changing into a for-profit business. Musk and his company, xAI, filed a request to block this change.

They also want OpenAI to stop its investors from giving money to companies that compete with OpenAI. This is part of a fight between Musk and OpenAI. Musk helped start OpenAI in 2015, but he left the company later.

OpenAI has become a large company in the technology field. Musk says OpenAI is not letting its investors put money into companies that are in competition with it. This makes it harder for Musk's company, xAI, to grow.

OpenAI was first started as a non-profit, but later it changed into a company that makes money. Now, OpenAI wants to become a public company to get more money.

Musk left OpenAI in 2018 because he didn’t like how the company started focusing on making money. In March, he filed a lawsuit, saying OpenAI broke its promise to make its research available to everyone.

OpenAI says Musk’s lawsuit and his support for open research are just complaints because he left the company.
