Dubai Police have arrested a group of criminals who pretended to be employees of the Consumer Rights Protection Department. Their goal was to trick people into sharing their bank details through the UAE PASS app.
How the Fraud Worked
These scammers used clever tricks to convince people to share private information, especially their bank card details. Once they got this information, they secretly took money from the victims' bank accounts without them knowing.

The criminals called people and told them they needed to update their details on digital identity platforms. They asked for important banking information, like:
Bank card numbers
CVV codes (the three-digit number on the back of a card)
One-Time Passwords (OTPs) sent by the bank
Dubai Police warned that no real official or bank employee will ever ask for such details over the phone. Anyone who does is a fraudster trying to steal money.
How Dubai Police Caught the Criminals
The Anti-Fraud Centre at Dubai Police quickly took action. They formed a special team to track down the scammers. The team successfully found them and arrested them while they were still in possession of electronic devices used to carry out their crimes.
Dubai Police’s Warning to the Public
Dubai Police are warning people not to share their personal or banking details with strangers, no matter what they say. Even if someone claims to be from a government office or a bank, you should never give them private information like passwords or bank details.
How to Stay Safe from Scammers
Never share your bank details over the phone.
Do not trust callers who ask you to update information.
Report suspicious calls immediately.
If you think you have been scammed, report it to Dubai Police.
Dubai Police have also advised people to report cyber fraud cases through the “eCrime” platform at www.ecrime.ae or by visiting the nearest police station.
Stay alert and always protect your personal information!
