To help, India started "Operation Brahma" and sent 15 tonnes of relief supplies on Saturday. A special Indian Air Force plane (C130J) carried the goods to Yangon, a big city in Myanmar. The supplies included tents, blankets, sleeping bags, ready-to-eat food, clean water tools, solar lamps, generator sets, and medicines. Officials said two more planes are being filled with more supplies and will fly soon from Hindon Air Force Station.
When the supplies reached Myanmar, India's ambassador Abhay Thakur handed them over to Yangon’s Chief Minister, U Soe Thein. India's External Affairs Ministry spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, said that India is the "First Responder," meaning it is the first country to send help.
The Indian embassy in Myanmar is working fast to make sure the help reaches the people. They posted on social media, saying they are in touch with Indian citizens in Myanmar. They also shared a helpline number (+95-95419602) for Indians who need help.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke about the disaster and said India is ready to help Myanmar and Thailand in every way possible. He posted on social media, "I am very worried about the earthquake in Myanmar and Thailand. I pray for the safety of everyone." He also said that Indian authorities are on standby and the Ministry of External Affairs is in touch with both governments.
India's quick help shows that it stands with its neighbors in tough times. This mission proves India's kindness and strong friendship with Myanmar.
