In line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, as well as Ruler of Dubai, the Dubai Municipality has moved forward with the second phase of the Al Mamzar Beach Development Project. The goal of this phase is to improve the beachfront area at Al Mamzar Corniche, and once both phases are completed by the end of 2025, the project will cost around AED 400 million.

The development plans to create a top-tier beach destination that will attract tourists and meet international standards, all while following sustainable practices and considering the effects of climate change. The design will connect the creek with the beach in a seamless way, offering a variety of facilities for both recreation and sports. The aim is to provide a beach experience that includes modern, environmentally friendly features.
The project will cover an area of 125,000 square meters, and the beach will be 80 meters wide. One of the standout features will be a public beach area specifically for women, with a secure entrance to ensure privacy and safety. This area will also allow for night swimming and will have facilities such as a sports club, commercial services, and areas for children to play.
The Al Mamzar Corniche public beach will also have a long path for walking, running, and cycling that connects the beach to Al Mamzar Park. This path, which is a first of its kind in the region, will let visitors enjoy both the beach and park in one experience. Green spaces with beautiful landscaping will also be a major part of the design, along with areas for seasonal events, a skateboarding park, and plenty of play zones for kids.
Facilities like toilets, changing rooms, and showers will be included, making the space comfortable for everyone, including people with special needs. A control room and a first aid center will also be located in an administrative building. To ensure safety and smooth operations, smart technology like AI-supported surveillance, rescue systems for swimmers, and crowd management tools will be used.
The project will also encourage business by providing spaces for restaurants, food outlets, and other services along the beach. This will help the local economy while offering visitors a better experience.
Bader Anwahi, CEO of the Public Facilities Agency at Dubai Municipality, explained that this project is part of Dubai’s vision to become the world’s best city to live, work, and visit. He emphasized that the development of such beachfront areas is key to enhancing Dubai’s tourism and recreational facilities, ultimately improving the quality of life for residents and tourists alike. The aim is to set new global standards for beach designs and create a sustainable, attractive city for the future.
The first phase of the project, which started in June of last year, is already 45% complete. This phase covers 275,000 square meters of beach area and includes a pedestrian pontoon bridge, night swimming areas, and tracks for running and cycling. The beach will also have designated spaces for children’s play, barbecue areas, and jet ski marinas, alongside plenty of restrooms, changing rooms, and parking spaces.
With all these upgrades, the Al Mamzar Beach Development Project will not only enhance Dubai’s position as a leading tourist destination but also create a vibrant, inclusive space for both locals and visitors. It will serve as a modern, sustainable model for future infrastructure projects in Dubai.
