Djokovic started well and took the first set 6-3 without much trouble. In the second set, Korda played better and took a 5-2 lead. He even had a chance to win the set at 5-3, but Djokovic fought back. He broke Korda’s serve and pushed the set into a tiebreak.
In the tiebreak, Djokovic played with focus and confidence. A strong serve at 5-4 and an ace at 6-4 won him the match. He celebrated loudly, and his coach, Andy Murray, also jumped with excitement.
“I have been serving well in this tournament, but today I needed my serve the most in the second set," Djokovic said after the match. "The tiebreak was very close, but I won the big points.”
Djokovic will now play in the semi-final against Grigor Dimitrov on Friday. If he wins the tournament, he will also set a record by winning his seventh Miami Open title.
In another match, Jakub Mensik from Czech Republic won against Arthur Fils from France in two sets, 7-6(5), 6-1. Mensik will now wait for the result of the match between Matteo Berrettini and Taylor Fritz to know his next opponent.
On the women’s side, Aryna Sabalenka played an amazing match to reach her first Miami Open final. She won easily against Jasmine Paolini in just 71 minutes, with a score of 6-2, 6-2.
Sabalenka was very strong on serve, winning 77% of her first serves and hitting six aces. She also saved all four break points that Paolini had and broke Paolini’s serve four times.
Sabalenka has been in great form in this tournament. She has not lost a single set in her five matches so far. She came to Miami after finishing runner-up in Indian Wells, and now she is one step away from winning her first Miami Open title.
She will play against the winner of the semi-final between Jessica Pegula and Alexandra Eala. Eala, a wildcard player from the Philippines, shocked everyone by defeating world number two Iga Swiatek in the last round.
With Djokovic chasing his 100th title and Sabalenka aiming for her first Miami Open trophy, the tournament is set for an exciting finish.
