The Lakers started a tough series of five games against top NBA teams with a hard-fought 113-109 overtime win against the New York Knicks. This was their eighth win in a row, and they now hold second place in the Western Conference with a 40-21 record.

“Our team showed real fight and spirit. At times, it felt like a playoff game,” Redick said.

The Lakers were losing by a big margin in the fourth quarter but made a strong comeback to push the game into overtime. The score was tied at 107 after Knicks star Jalen Brunson, who was injured, made free throws. Then, the Lakers finished strong with a 6-2 scoring run.

Redick said the team has not played many games like this because they usually have the lead. He thinks this game proved they can still win even when their offense is not at its best or when they start slow on defense. “We have the toughness to win these tough games,” he said.

Luka Doncic led the team with 32 points, while LeBron James added 31. But other players also played a big role in the win.

Gabe Vincent hit three important three-pointers in the fourth quarter, helping the Lakers come back. Jaxson Hayes made two key free throws to give the Lakers a 109-107 lead. Austin Reaves, who had missed two games due to a calf injury, had a rough shooting night but still made a big three-pointer in overtime.

Doncic praised Vincent’s shooting, saying, “Gabe helped us win with those threes in the fourth quarter. It gave us energy and got the crowd excited.”
