Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Yamahi, Speaker of the Arab Parliament, has strongly condemned remarks attributed to the United States Ambassador to Israel regarding the “acceptability” of Israel’s control over the Middle East and Arab territories.
In an official statement issued today, Al Yamahi described the comments as a dangerous departure from international law and a violation of the United Nations Charter. He warned that such statements encourage the continuation of occupation and attempt to legitimize annexation by force.
Al Yamahi stressed that any discussion supporting control over the occupied Palestinian territories is a clear breach of international legitimacy. He said it undermines the Palestinian people’s right to establish an independent state with Al Quds as its capital.
He also called on the US administration to clarify its official position and correct the reported remarks. According to him, the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all states must be respected and treated as a red line.
The Arab Parliament Speaker further emphasized that providing any political cover for occupation or settlement expansion is completely unacceptable and contradicts established international principles.
