The Statistics Centre – Abu Dhabi (SCAD) has introduced the Data for Good (D4G) Framework, a significant new initiative aimed at promoting data-driven innovation and strengthening public-private partnerships across Abu Dhabi. This framework represents a pivotal step forward in the way data will be utilized to address societal challenges and achieve sustainable economic growth. Developed in collaboration with both global and local partners, the D4G Framework seeks to create secure partnerships between government entities and private organizations, enabling real-time data insights that benefit the community.

At the heart of the D4G Framework is a commitment to responsible data sharing, supported by guiding principles of trust, innovation, and sustainability. This framework ensures that data is shared securely, protecting privacy and competitive advantages, while enhancing decision-making, public services, and fostering economic growth. The framework also emphasizes careful data stewardship to ensure proper handling, global-standard privacy and security compliance, and an ethical approach to data usage. By aligning diverse stakeholders through transparent governance, the D4G Framework aims to cultivate an environment where data can be used responsibly to address complex socio-economic challenges.
His Excellency Abdulla Gharib Alqemzi, Director General of SCAD, emphasized the significance of this framework in supporting Abu Dhabi’s sustainability goals. According to Alqemzi, by building trust and fostering collaboration between the public and private sectors, the framework unlocks the full potential of data—often described as the “lifeblood” of modern governance—to provide actionable insights that fuel both societal progress and economic growth.
Developed with input from over 60 partners across various sectors, the D4G Framework reflects international best practices and aligns with Abu Dhabi's unique socio-economic goals. This collaboration has been essential in ensuring that the framework is designed to enhance Abu Dhabi’s resilience in today’s dynamic global landscape. By focusing on real-time data analysis, SCAD’s initiative helps Abu Dhabi make informed decisions that improve public services, promote inclusivity, and support a knowledge-based economy.
As Abu Dhabi embraces a future driven by sustainable data practices, the D4G Framework will support a more inclusive and resilient emirate. The framework is expected to encourage data collaboration that balances innovation and security, while delivering insights that will contribute to Abu Dhabi’s economic and social objectives. It solidifies the emirate’s position as a leader in data-driven governance, empowering it to address future challenges effectively.
Launched in 2023, the D4G Alliance builds upon SCAD’s commitment to advancing responsible data use for socio-economic and business innovation. Through secure data sharing and a dedication to ethical governance, this alliance promotes trust and value for the public, contributing to Abu Dhabi’s long-term development goals.
