This year’s competition features 11 different sports, including football, shooting, padel, fitness, volleyball, table tennis, basketball, chess, and badminton. The events are being held at multiple venues, with Abu Dhabi Cricket Sports Hub and Al Forsan International Sports Resort hosting most competitions. Meanwhile, running races are taking place at the Sheikh Zayed Festival in Al Wathba, and cycling competitions are being held at the Al Wathba Cycle Track.

Held in celebration of Ramadan, the championship is part of an employee engagement and well-being program designed to promote positivity, teamwork, and a healthy lifestyle. The initiative focuses on improving physical health, mental clarity, and overall well-being in a competitive yet friendly environment. It also aims to strengthen professional relationships, enhance personal and professional development, and encourage employees to incorporate sports into their daily routines.

Government teams and individuals will compete for a total prize pool exceeding AED 1.3 million. To accommodate the holy month of Ramadan, all events are scheduled in the evening, starting at 9 PM.

His Excellency Aref Hamad Al Awani, Secretary-General of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, emphasized the significance of this year’s championship, highlighting its role in encouraging government employees to adopt a well-rounded and active lifestyle. He noted that after the success of the previous two editions, this year’s event will further inspire participants to embrace sports and fitness as part of their daily lives, contributing to a healthier and more sustainable future.

“We aim to drive a fundamental shift in the lifestyle of Abu Dhabi government employees, leveraging the best research and methodologies to achieve this transformation,” Al Awani stated. “The Abu Dhabi Government Games is one of our flagship programs designed to accomplish these goals in a celebratory and social setting, coinciding with the holy month.”

This championship underscores the Abu Dhabi Government’s commitment to enhancing employee morale and well-being. With a growing global emphasis on physical and mental health, the Abu Dhabi Government Games serve as a key platform for cultural exchange and collaboration among various government entities. By reinforcing teamwork and synergy, the initiative contributes to a positive and productive workplace while promoting a healthier future for all participants.
