Veteran actress Gloria Romero has passed away at the age of 91. The sad news was shared by her daughter, Maritess Gutierrez, on Facebook. Maritess wrote, "It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of my beloved mother, Gloria Galla Gutierrez, also known as Gloria Romero. She peacefully joined our Creator earlier today, January 25, 2025."

Gloria's wake will be held at the Arlington Memorial Chapel in Quezon City. Maritess also expressed the family's gratitude for the support they have received during this difficult time. "In this time of loss, we deeply appreciate the support, prayers, sympathy, all the lovely messages, and heartfelt condolences. She will surely be missed dearly," she added. A public viewing for Gloria will be held on January 27 and 28, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Gloria Romero had an incredible career in the Philippine entertainment industry that spanned more than 70 years. She was known for her exceptional performances in popular films such as "Magnifico," "Dalagang Ilocana," "Tarima," "Tanging Yaman," and "Rainbow's Sunset." She also appeared in numerous television shows, gaining the love of her fans.

In February 2024, Gloria, who is known as the "Queen of Philippine Cinema," was honored with a star-studded tribute. Later that year, in April, she was named one of the Film Development Council of the Philippines’ Lifetime Achievement Honorees. She was recognized for her remarkable contributions to Filipino cinema, having left a lasting impact on the country's culture and history. She was more than just a movie queen—she helped shape Filipino cinema through landmark films and performances over the years.
