UAE Launches New Dh100 Banknote Featuring Umm Al Quwain Fort & Fujairah Port

Post by: Raman Preet

Abu Dhabi: The Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) has introduced a new Dh100 banknote just before Eid Al Fitr. This new note is made of polymer, which is stronger and lasts longer than paper money.

The front of the banknote shows Umm Al Quwain National Fort, a famous historical place in the UAE. On the back, it features Port of Fujairah, an important trade center, and Etihad Rail, which connects all seven Emirates and will also link to GCC countries.

The new note has red shades, similar to the old Dh100 note, so people can easily recognize it.

When Will It Be Used?
The new Dh100 banknote will start circulating from March 24. It will be used along with the old note. Banks and exchange centers have been asked to update their machines to accept both old and new notes. The Central Bank confirmed that both paper and polymer notes will still be valid.

A Special Launch
Khaled Mohamed Balama, Governor of CBUAE, said this new note shows the UAE’s goal for a better future while also honoring its history and culture. He also said that launching the note during Eid Al Fitr makes it even more special.

Strong Security Features
The new banknote has modern security features to prevent fraud. It also has Braille symbols to help blind and visually impaired people identify it.

Polymer banknotes are more durable and last twice as long as paper notes, making them a better choice for the environment.

UAE Wins International Awards
Recently, the UAE Central Bank won the ‘Best New Banknote’ award at the High-Security Printing EMEA conference in 2023 and 2025 for its Dh500 and Dh1,000 polymer notes.

With this new note, the UAE continues to improve its currency, keeping it strong, modern, and safe while still respecting its history.
