SRH Star Reveals Shock Over Hardik Pandya's Message During 2024 T20 World Cup

As the new domestic cricket season approaches, Andhra Pradesh and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy is diligently working to regain his full fitness. The season begins on September 5 with the Duleep Trophy, and Reddy is eager to return to peak performance.

Reddy, a standout in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) with SRH, earned a call-up to the Indian squad for a T20I series against Zimbabwe. Despite being sidelined by a sports hernia injury, his remarkable IPL performance, which included scoring 303 runs in 11 innings and claiming three wickets, earned him the 'Emerging Player of the Season' award. His efforts have marked him as a promising talent for future series.

In an interview with Star Sports, Reddy expressed his admiration for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) players, particularly Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers. "I've been a huge fan of RCB for the last 10 years. Meeting Virat Kohli in 2023 was a dream come true. I only managed to get his autograph and shake his hand, but I hoped to catch his eye with a strong performance against RCB in 2024," Reddy shared.

Although Reddy didn’t bat in that match, he was touched when Kohli remembered his name during the post-match handshake. "That gesture meant a lot to me," he said.

Reddy's cricketing journey began with impressive performances in the Under-16 Vijay Merchant Trophy, where he scored a triple century against Tamil Nadu and a quadruple century against Nagaland, amassing 1,237 runs in the 2017-18 season.

In 2019, frustrated by his batting form, Reddy considered focusing solely on batting. However, coach Srinivas Reddy advised him to continue as a bowler, highlighting the rarity of pace-bowling all-rounders in India. This advice led to Reddy's inclusion in an ACA camp, where his talent was recognized by skipper Hanuma Vihari. Vihari’s endorsement led to Reddy's Ranji debut against Kerala in January 2020.

Reddy joined SRH before the 2023 IPL season but played only two matches, where he did not bat. In July of the same year, he was selected for India's Emerging Players squad for the Asia Cup in Sri Lanka but did not have the opportunity to bat.

As he prepares for the upcoming season, Reddy's focus remains on recovering fully and making an impact on the field.
