Some stories rise from ambition. Others rise from survival. But a rare few grow from a heart that was built to nurture.
The story of Sherin Thomas belongs to the third kind.

She carries many identities. Educator. Artist. Mentor. Author. Entrepreneur. Volunteer. But the role that shaped her more than any other was the one she embraced first: a mother who chose to give her entire heart to her children.

To Sherin, motherhood is not only love. It is responsibility. It is discipline. It is sacrifice. It is the decision to pause one’s own journey so a new journey can begin for someone else. She speaks of motherhood as her greatest teacher, the role that transformed her into a caregiver, a moral instructor, and the emotional anchor of her home. It is the foundation on which her spirit was built.

Sherin was born in Punjab, raised across India, and shaped by countless cities and states. Her father served in the Indian Air Force, which meant life was always moving. One city became another. One set of friends became new ones. The atmosphere was peaceful, disciplined, and full of cultural diversity. They tasted new foods, learned new traditions, experienced new languages, and celebrated life wherever the force took them. Goodbyes were painful. Hellos were exciting. This constant rhythm taught her strength, adaptability, empathy, and the quiet courage to start over again and again.

Education became her second heartbeat. She earned multiple master’s degrees in Arts, Education, Divinity, and Business. She studied because she loved learning, but also because life tested her early. She married at the age of twenty and moved from city to city, balancing dreams with responsibilities. She experienced the heartbreak of losing her first baby and found healing through art. She picked up painting never having formally studied it, but she discovered a natural gift inherited from her mother.

During her pregnancies she designed baby clothes and feeding dresses. She learned tailoring by visiting a home where a family taught her with patience. But her greatest test came when she experienced a cardiac arrest twenty eight days after delivering her third child. The doctors declared her clinically gone. She returned to life through what she calls God’s grace. For her this moment was not a medical event. It was testimony, purpose, and a reminder that every breath is borrowed and sacred.

Her faith is the thread that holds her life together. Christ is her source of wisdom, understanding, and strength. Since the age of seven she has sung in church choirs. She leads small study groups. She supports ministries in villages across Andhra Pradesh, Orissa, and Kerala. She visits orphanages and old age homes. She prays for people who come to her with pain, confusion, or fear. She believes that the reason people approach her is simple. God raised her from death, and His light within her has a way of attracting those who need comfort.

Her daughter’s struggle with diabetes strengthened her even more. She stood beside her, helped her heal, and watched her graduate with a master’s degree in engineering. For Sherin this triumph is one of her life’s greatest gifts.

Her love for languages is extraordinary. She speaks six Indian languages and learned Arabic to support her children’s studies. Dubai has been her home for twenty two years and she has travelled to forty seven countries. She always researches the histories of each destination with her children, writes down what matters, and collects cultures the way some people collect souvenirs. Her world is large, yet her heart remains simple.

Service is central to her life. She has participated in community runs, educational walks, recycling drives, tree planting campaigns, and environmental movements. She has won medals and trophies in both five kilometre and ten kilometre races. She has walked for diabetes awareness and for Dubai Cares. She has visited blind schools and orphanages. Her life has always been shaped by purpose, action, and compassion.

She balances her roles with a verse she holds close to her soul.
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
This is how she manages teaching, mentoring, parenting, writing, volunteering, and creating. Not all activities happen at once. They unfold in seasons, each guided by God’s timing.

Her art offers her something that academics cannot. Peace. Joy. Silence. Her studio is inside her indoor garden where she feels most alive. She paints with calmness, nurtures her plants with love, and finds her answers in the quiet. For her gardening is a form of prayer. It reminds her of her childhood in military camps where gardens were perfect and butterflies danced in the open air. She designed gardens for friends with this same love.

Her feature in Manorama Online came from this passion. A photographer saw her Dubai garden and immediately recognised its beauty. Dubai Buzz featured her for her dreams and entrepreneurial work. These moments made her reflect not on success but on how far her quiet choices had carried her.

Her book Threads of Fate is one of her proudest creations. She wrote it in twenty days, though the seeds lived in her for much longer. Every December on her birthday she writes ten visions for the year ahead. Last year she wrote that her book would be on her table by the next December. She wrote. She struggled. She paused. She tried again. Then in October after an author’s boot camp she prayed for clarity. That night the inspiration arrived. Ten stories. Ten nights. Ten emotional truths. She worked through the night, guided by grace and strength she believes came from God. She launched her book at the Sharjah International Book Fair exactly as she had written in her vision.

Threads of Fate speaks about the balance between business life and family life, something Sherin believes is misunderstood today. People chase money but forget the family they are working for. Many women suffer silently after sudden tragedies or inside difficult marriages. She wrote the book to help families think, plan, and prepare. She wrote it to remind women of their strength. She wrote it to teach that money must be earned with wisdom, not competition or pressure.

Her greatest triumph remains her survival and the ability to raise her children with love. Her greatest struggle has been her daughter’s health. But through every challenge she kept her heart steady and her faith unshaken.

If she could describe her life in one sentence she would say:
I am blessed, and I choose to live simply with love and grace.

This is the story of Sherin Thomas.
A woman shaped by faith.
Strengthened by motherhood.
Guided by compassion.
Lifted by resilience.
And anchored by the quiet power of a heart that chooses to do everything with purpose.

She is not only living her life. She is nurturing others through it.
Her story reminds us that the greatest strength is often found in the softest hands.
