Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman said the country plans to invest $600 billion in the United States over the next four years. Details about where this money will go were not given, but it shows that Saudi Arabia wants to depend less on oil and focus on other areas. In recent years, the U.S. has been buying less oil from Saudi Arabia. Instead, Saudi Arabia is using its money to invest in American companies and even sports projects.
President Trump also spoke about visiting Saudi Arabia again for his first trip abroad since returning as president. In 2017, he made Saudi Arabia his first stop because they agreed to buy $450 billion worth of U.S. products. Trump said if Saudi Arabia promises to spend $450-500 billion again, he may visit soon.
This phone call shows that Saudi Arabia and the United States continue to work together closely. It also highlights their plans to grow trade and investment. More details about these investments are expected later.
