Saudi Arabia has taken a historic step in the field of artificial intelligence with the official launch of HUMAIN Chat, an advanced Arabic-first conversational AI platform. The project has been developed by HUMAIN, a company fully owned by the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF), and is powered by the ALLAM 34B model, which has been trained on the largest Arabic dataset ever created.

A New Era for Arabic Speakers

For decades, most AI platforms were built mainly for English and a few other global languages, leaving out millions of Arabic speakers. HUMAIN Chat aims to change this by providing a system that can communicate naturally in Arabic, while also switching smoothly between Arabic and English within the same conversation. The platform can recognize different Arabic dialects, respond instantly, and maintain the flow of human-like discussions.

This launch is not just a technological move but also a cultural one. With over 400 million Arabic speakers and more than 2 billion Muslims worldwide, the new AI system is expected to make digital communication more inclusive and accessible for communities often underserved in the global tech space.

Availability and Future Expansion

The application is currently available across web, iOS, and Android in Saudi Arabia. Authorities have confirmed that regional expansion to other Gulf countries and international rollout will follow in the coming months.

Officials described this as a “milestone in generative AI,” one that positions Saudi Arabia as a leader in building sovereign, locally developed technology solutions.

Sovereign and Secure by Design

One of the strongest features of HUMAIN Chat is that it has been built entirely in Saudi Arabia, using local talent and national infrastructure. The system is fully aligned with the Kingdom’s Personal Data Protection Law, ensuring that user information remains safe and under national control.

Tareq Amin, Chief Executive of HUMAIN, called the launch a “defining moment,” stressing that the Kingdom can now create globally competitive AI technologies rooted in its own culture, infrastructure, and data systems.

The Talent and Technology Behind the Project

The HUMAIN project is massive in scale and ambition. Over 120 AI specialists, including 35 PhD holders, were directly involved in developing and training the platform. They were supported by more than 600 domain experts working across various fields.

HUMAIN itself was founded only in May 2025, but it was set up as a full-stack AI enterprise, meaning it covers every stage of AI technology—from infrastructure and data to applications and services.

The company is also collaborating with major global tech giants. Partners such as Amazon Web Services, NVIDIA, Qualcomm, Cisco, and AMD are contributing expertise in areas like hyperscale data centers, hybrid cloud-edge systems, and next-generation computing solutions

Strategic Leadership and Vision

The importance of HUMAIN is highlighted by the fact that its board is chaired by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, underlining the project’s role in Saudi Arabia’s long-term vision to diversify its economy and become a global technology hub. The board also includes senior leaders from the government, as well as top executives from companies like Saudi Aramco and Sanabil Investments.

First of Many Products to Come

HUMAIN Chat is just the beginning. Officials confirmed that the company is working on a broader portfolio of AI tools, including solutions tailored for government services, businesses, and content creators. These upcoming tools will be designed to adapt in real time to regional needs, offering flexibility and personalization that could transform how people in the Middle East interact with technology.

The aim is not only to serve local users but also to establish Saudi Arabia as a regional and global hub for artificial intelligence. By creating homegrown AI solutions, the Kingdom is positioning itself alongside the world’s leading tech innovators, while staying true to its cultural and linguistic identity.

Why HUMAIN Chat Matters

This launch represents more than just a new app. It signals:

* Cultural empowerment, giving Arabic language and dialects a leading place in the AI world.

* Data sovereignty, ensuring technology is controlled and protected locally.

* Global competitiveness, showing that the Arab world can build AI tools at par with international standards.

* Future readiness, as AI becomes a foundation for education, business, governance, and daily life.

As the Kingdom continues to invest in advanced industries through Vision 2030, HUMAIN Chat may become a symbol of how technology and tradition can move forward together.
