During U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s visit to Tel Aviv, air raid sirens erupted on Wednesday as Israel's air force intercepted two rockets launched from Lebanon. This incident prompted immediate action from senior officials at the U.S. State Department and traveling press members staying at Blinken’s hotel. Upon hearing the sirens, they quickly evacuated the breakfast hall and rushed to a shelter located downstairs, joining other hotel guests and staff.

The timing of the rocket interception coincided with another security concern, as Israeli forces had also successfully intercepted two drones that were launched toward the Red Sea port city of Eilat. According to the Israeli military, these drone launches and the subsequent rocket attacks were part of a larger pattern of regional aggression.
Fortunately, there were no immediate reports of injuries or casualties from either the drone or rocket attacks, allowing Blinken’s diplomatic visit to proceed without major disruption. However, the Islamic Resistance in Iraq, an Iranian-backed militant group, claimed responsibility for the drone attacks on Eilat, asserting that they struck "vital" targets.
This series of events highlights the escalating tensions in the region, occurring during a pivotal moment for U.S.-Israel relations as diplomatic discussions continue. The situation reflects the broader security challenges facing Israel amidst ongoing hostilities involving Iranian-backed groups in the region.
