Rachel Zegler is once again in the spotlight after facing backlash for her past comments about Disney’s original 1937 animated film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Recently, the actress, who plays the iconic princess in the upcoming live-action remake, has tried to make amends by expressing her admiration for Disney and the classic movie.
In an interview on Good Morning America on March 20, Zegler spoke about how much the role of Snow White means to her. She described it as "the honor of a lifetime" and said she has always been a big fan of Disney. "This one is certainly extra special as a huge Disney fan," she shared. The actress emphasized how grateful she feels to bring Snow White to life in a way that is unique but still true to the character’s essence.

She also discussed the "modern spin" that the live-action adaptation brings while assuring audiences that the heart of the story remains unchanged. According to Zegler, Snow White’s kindness, emotions, and innocence are what makes her special, and those qualities will still be central in the new film. She added that both the original and the new versions are meant to inspire children and connect with the "inner child" in everyone.
However, despite her recent praise for Disney and Snow White, many fans remain upset over her earlier remarks. Last year, during an interview with Extra, Zegler criticized the original film’s storyline, saying, "There’s a big focus on her love story with the guy who stalks her. Weird, weird." Her words sparked outrage among fans, who felt she was disrespecting the classic movie.
As the backlash grew, many social media users accused Zegler of being a "hypocrite" for now celebrating a film she had previously dismissed. Some even questioned whether she was genuinely a Disney fan. The controversy has also raised concerns about the movie’s potential success at the box office, especially considering its massive budget of $250–270 million.
Adding to the drama, there have been reports of tensions between Zegler and her co-star Gal Gadot, who plays the Evil Queen. Although neither actress has publicly addressed these rumors, they have fueled further discussions online.
Despite the criticism, Disney is moving forward with the release, and fans will get to see Zegler’s portrayal of Snow White when the film hits theaters on March 21, 2025. Whether audiences embrace the modernized version or remain loyal to the beloved original, it’s clear that Snow White continues to be a hot topic in the entertainment world.
