Dubai Police have arrested 375 street vendors during the first half of Ramadan for selling food items and fake goods in public places without permission. These illegal activities go against public safety rules and health regulations set by the authorities. The police also seized several vehicles used to transport and sell these unapproved products.
Part of the “Combat Begging” Campaign
The arrests are part of Dubai Police’s “Combat Begging” campaign, which runs during Ramadan. The campaign’s slogan is “An Aware Society, Free of Begging.” Its goal is to make people aware of the dangers of begging, protect public safety, and stop illegal activities in public areas.

Ensuring Public Safety
Lieutenant Colonel Talib Al Amiri, who heads the Anti-Street Vending Section at the Department of Suspects and Criminal Phenomena, said that these actions show Dubai Police’s strong commitment to keeping the city safe. He explained that the police, along with their partners, are working hard to maintain public order and get rid of illegal practices that harm Dubai’s image.
Lt. Col. Al Amiri pointed out that many of these street vendors operate in labour accommodation areas. They sell unregulated products on the streets and in alleys, often in dirty and unsafe conditions.
Health Risks from Unsafe Products
The police warned people not to buy food or other goods from unlicensed street vendors or vehicles parked along the roadside. These products are not properly handled or stored, which makes them unsafe for consumption. Eating such food can lead to serious health problems.
Lt. Col. Al Amiri advised the public to only purchase food from licensed shops and restaurants to protect their health.
Ongoing Police Efforts
Dubai Police are continuing their round-the-clock patrols throughout Ramadan. They are working closely with other authorities to catch illegal vendors.
Lt. Col. Al Amiri also urged the public to avoid dealing with street vendors and to report any violations. People can call 901 or use the “Police Eye” service on the Dubai Police smart app to share information about illegal activities.
