Mohamed Obaid Salem Al Zaabi, the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to the Republic of the Philippines, has been honoured with the prestigious title of “Ambassador of Goodwill for Peace.” The recognition was presented by the United Nations Association of the Philippines (UNAP) during celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the United Nations and the Outstanding Humanitarian Awards Night on 24th October 2025.

This award celebrates individuals who have made exceptional efforts in promoting peace, development, and humanitarian cooperation. Al Zaabi’s honour highlights his ongoing work in deepening UAE–Philippines relations and supporting initiatives that bring tangible benefits to communities in need.

Ambassador Al Zaabi’s efforts have played a major role in strengthening the long-standing relationship between the UAE and the Philippines. His initiatives have promoted collaboration in humanitarian, cultural, and development sectors. The recognition from UNAP stands as a testament to his dedication to nurturing understanding and cooperation between the two nations.

Under Al Zaabi’s leadership, the UAE Embassy in Manila has served as a bridge for mutual goodwill and assistance, reflecting the UAE’s foreign policy that values compassion, peace, and partnership. His work aligns with the UAE’s broader diplomatic mission of building international relationships based on respect and shared progress.

The honour also reflects the vision of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founding father of the UAE, whose legacy of humanitarianism continues to inspire the nation’s diplomacy. Sheikh Zayed’s approach made humanitarian work a key element of the UAE’s identity and global engagement.

This legacy is today sustained and advanced under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, who has made humanitarian service and international cooperation a central part of the country’s global policy. Ambassador Al Zaabi’s recognition demonstrates how these values are translated into action across the world.

The UAE has been a consistent supporter of the Philippines during times of crisis. Over recent years, the country has carried out numerous initiatives to provide relief, medical assistance, and development support to those affected by natural disasters and humanitarian emergencies.

From sending aircraft loaded with relief supplies to funding community development projects, the UAE has shown steadfast solidarity with the Filipino people. These humanitarian efforts underscore the UAE’s commitment to helping those in need, regardless of geography, and its vision of fostering a more compassionate global community.

The recognition of Ambassador Al Zaabi as an “Ambassador of Goodwill for Peace” also mirrors the UAE’s deep-rooted values of tolerance, co-existence, and peacebuilding. These principles have become a foundation of the country’s foreign relations and have earned the UAE respect across the international community.

By promoting mutual understanding and constructive dialogue, the UAE seeks to contribute to global stability and shared prosperity. Al Zaabi’s role in promoting these ideals in the Philippines stands as a shining example of the nation’s commitment to peace through diplomacy and action.

In his capacity as Ambassador, Al Zaabi has consistently worked to build bridges between nations and people, emphasizing the importance of cooperation, compassion, and shared responsibility. His recognition by the United Nations Association of the Philippines underscores the global appreciation for these efforts and reaffirms the UAE’s leadership in advancing humanitarian diplomacy.

As the world faces growing challenges—from conflicts to climate-related crises—the UAE continues to advocate for peace, humanitarian assistance, and sustainable development. Through leaders like Ambassador Al Zaabi, the country reinforces its image as a nation dedicated to helping others and fostering harmony among peoples.

The honour awarded to Mohamed Obaid Salem Al Zaabi is not only a personal achievement but also a reflection of the UAE’s continued commitment to global humanitarian values. It celebrates a diplomatic approach rooted in empathy, peace, and service to others—principles that have defined the UAE since its founding.

By embodying these ideals, Ambassador Al Zaabi continues to strengthen the UAE’s role as a global partner for peace and goodwill, ensuring that the legacy of compassion established by Sheikh Zayed remains alive and continues to inspire future generations.
