The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has just opened a new bridge on Sheikh Rashid Road. This bridge is 605 meters long and has two lanes. It's the second bridge in the fourth phase of the Al Shindagha Corridor Improvement Project, which aims to make traffic in one of Dubai’s busiest areas flow better.
The bridge connects Al Mina Street and Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street. It is designed to carry 3,200 cars per hour, which should help reduce traffic and make travel easier.

This bridge is part of a bigger plan to improve roads and reduce traffic jams. The fourth phase of the Al Shindagha project will add four more bridges over 3.1 kilometers of road. Together, these bridges will handle 19,400 cars per hour when finished.
The first bridge in this phase opened in December 2024. It connects Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street to Al Mina Street and the Falcon Intersection. This bridge is 1,300 meters long with three lanes and can handle 4,800 cars per hour. A third bridge will be 780 meters long and will help ease traffic from Al Mina Street to Al Wasl Road. A fourth bridge is expected to be finished by the end of 2025 and will link Jumeirah Street to the Falcon Intersection.
The entire 13-kilometer Al Shindagha Corridor is being improved. This includes building 4.8 kilometers of new roads, upgrading road intersections, and adding pedestrian bridges on both Sheikh Rashid Road and Al Mina Street. The project will also include better street lighting, improved drainage, and smart traffic systems.
The aim of these improvements is to reduce the travel time along this corridor. Right now, it takes an average of 104 minutes, but by 2030, the goal is to cut that down to just 16 minutes. This will make commuting easier for people in Deira and Bur Dubai and will also help people traveling to places like Dubai Islands, Dubai Maritime City, and Port Rashid.
The project is expected to help around one million people by making travel faster and safer. It will also save around Dh45 billion in travel time over the next 20 years.
These upgrades are part of Dubai’s efforts to become a more connected, faster, and smarter city. When you travel through the Al Shindagha Corridor, you’ll see how the city is improving its roads to make life easier for everyone.
