The video, filmed during a stand-up performance in Dallas, features Hinchcliffe using racial slurs and adopting an exaggerated Asian accent while mocking fellow comedian Peng Dang. Upon being introduced by Dang, Hinchcliffe opened his set with derogatory comments, saying, "One more time for filthy little f***ing c**k that was just here. All you f***ing race traitors are hooping and hollowing. I was back there watching you puck in a f***ing bucket." The audience laughed at his crude joke, prompting him to continue in a fake Asian accent, saying, "Oh, we make gunpowder, Oh, you want extra soy sauce. Oh, you borrow money from us." His comments elicited laughter from the crowd, indicating a troubling reception for his racially charged humor.

Despite the apparent approval from his audience at that moment, the backlash has led to significant consequences for Hinchcliffe. He has lost several gigs and was dropped by the talent agency William Morris Endeavor. Reactions to his remarks have been divided; while some defend his comedic style, suggesting that the context may not reflect the entirety of his set, many find his comments offensive and unacceptable.

The resurfacing of the clip coincided with Hinchcliffe facing criticism for calling Puerto Rico a "floating island of garbage." This remark drew immediate condemnation from political figures, including Florida Republican Representative María Salazar and Senator Rick Scott, who represent a large Puerto Rican community. They emphasized the contributions of Puerto Rico to the U.S. military and underscored the need for respect toward the island's citizens.

In response to the growing criticism, Hinchcliffe downplayed his remarks, attributing the backlash to a misunderstanding of his act. He stated, "These people have no sense of humor," and added, "I love Puerto Rico and vacation there. I made fun of everyone… watch the whole set. I’m a comedian, Tim… might be time to change your tampon."

However, his dismissive reaction has only intensified the controversy, with critics arguing that his remarks crossed a significant line, especially given the platform he shares with prominent political figures.
