Jamie Dimon, the Chief Executive Officer of JPMorgan Chase, has officially denied former President Donald Trump’s assertion that he endorsed his candidacy for the presidency. The denial came swiftly after Trump claimed Dimon’s support in a post. A spokesperson for Dimon, Joe Evangelisti, stated unequivocally, “Jamie Dimon has not endorsed anyone. He has not endorsed a candidate.”

The controversy began when Trump shared a screenshot suggesting Dimon was backing his presidential campaign. The post, which claimed, “New: Jamie Dimon, the CEO of JPMorgan Chase, has endorsed Trump for President,” seemed to gain traction after it circulated on X (formerly Twitter) on October 4. Several pro-Trump accounts amplified the claim before JPMorgan Chase released a denial.
When questioned about the post, Trump distanced himself from its origin, stating, “Somebody put it up. I don’t know,” despite the post remaining visible on his official account for hours afterward. Efforts by various outlets to contact the Trump campaign for clarification went unanswered.
Dimon had previously expressed his political neutrality during an interview at the JPMorgan Investor Summit in Mumbai last month, stating, “I’m not endorsing anyone at this time.” Although Dimon has acknowledged Trump positively on occasion, he has also been critical of him, particularly during their public interactions. In the lead-up to the Republican primaries, Dimon publicly supported former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, encouraging business leaders to back her over Trump.
In a reaction to Dimon's endorsement of Haley, Trump expressed his discontent, recalling their past interactions during his presidency. He remarked, “I’ve never been a big Jamie Dimon fan, but had to live with this guy when he came begging to the White House,” highlighting the ongoing tension between the two. The recent events underscore the complex and often contentious relationship between Trump and Dimon, as both navigate the political landscape ahead of the upcoming elections.
