Sanjay Bangar, PBKS’ Director of Cricket Operations, has publicly expressed interest in Sharma. However, Bangar also noted that any potential move for the star player would be contingent on the remaining budget in their auction purse. "It all depends on whether we have the money in our pockets. If Rohit comes in the auction, I certainly believe he is going to go for a high price," Bangar stated in an interview on the RAO Podcast YouTube channel.

Punjab Kings are particularly motivated to sign a new captain following the retirement of Shikhar Dhawan, who led the team until last season. With Dhawan's exit from the game, PBKS is in search of a new leader, and Rohit Sharma, despite being 37 years old, remains a prime candidate due to his extensive experience and leadership skills.
