Sharjah: Dr. Bindu Philip, a well-known Indian doctor living in the UAE, lost her life in a tragic car accident in Kerala on Monday morning. She was traveling home from the airport when the accident happened.
Short Trip for Housewarming
Dr. Bindu, 51, worked as a gynecologist at NMC Medical Centre in Buhairah Corniche, Sharjah. She had traveled to Kerala for a short visit to prepare for her housewarming, planned for May.
Her family said she lost her husband two years ago. She is survived by her two children.
Accident After Arrival
According to reports from Indian news sources, the accident took place early in the morning. Dr. Bindu had just arrived at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport from Dubai and was on her way home when the car crashed. Reports say the driver fell asleep while driving. He was also injured in the accident.
Children Left Behind
A close family friend in Sharjah shared that Dr. Bindu’s daughter, a university student in the UAE, was alone when her mother left for Kerala. After hearing the sad news, she was taken in by the friend’s family. She is flying to Kerala on Monday evening, with someone from the medical center traveling with her.
Her son is studying medicine in Thiruvananthapuram.
Respected Doctor
Dr. Bindu was a highly respected gynecologist and maternity specialist. She studied at Dr. S.N. Medical College in Jodhpur, India, and later completed her post-graduation at Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, in 2012.
She started her career at a well-known maternity and infertility hospital in Kerala before working as an associate professor at Mount Zion Medical College, Kerala.
Before joining the Sharjah medical center, she worked in Dubai, handling normal and C-section births. She was a member of the Federation of Obstetrics and Gynecology in India (FOGSI) and was registered with the Travancore Medical Council in India. She was an expert in high-risk pregnancies, infertility, and pregnancy loss. She also provided screenings for pregnancy care and cervical cancer.
Dr. Bindu’s sudden passing is a big loss to her family, friends, and the medical community.
