Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, has confirmed Dubai’s strong commitment to building a bright future while keeping its traditions and culture alive. He said this goal follows the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. His vision is to make Dubai a world leader in charity and helping people.
Sheikh Hamdan met with top real estate developers when signing an important agreement. This agreement was between the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department and the Dubai Land Department. The aim is to support the long-term construction, care, and management of mosques in Dubai's real estate areas, with help from major developers. This agreement also aims to bring government and private businesses together to make mosques not just places of worship but also centers for culture, learning, and kindness. During the event, Sheikh Hamdan met donors, mosque supporters, and real estate developers. He thanked them for playing a big role in serving the community by helping build and take care of mosques. He praised the teamwork between the government, private sector, and individuals, saying it shows Dubai’s strong culture of giving and kindness.
Sheikh Hamdan also spoke about the Mosque Sponsorship Initiative in new real estate areas. He called it a successful example of how public and private sectors can work together. Dubai has led such efforts for many years, using partnerships to create ambitious projects across the city. The initiative has received great support, with big real estate companies joining in. So far, agreements have been signed with several developers, leading to total contributions of Dhs560 million. This money will go toward building, maintaining, and improving mosques in different parts of Dubai.
Many well-known real estate companies have stepped forward to support the Mosque Sponsorship Initiative. The developers involved include Emaar Properties, Damac Properties, Azizi Developments, Danube Properties, ORO 24 Developments, and HRE Developments.
Ahmed Darwish Al Muhairi, Director General of the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department, said this initiative follows IACAD’s goal of making mosque development sustainable. He explained that working with private companies is an important step in making sure religious services continue at the highest standards. This agreement shows our dedication to social responsibility. It invites all sectors to take part in supporting projects that help the community. Mosques will become more than just places of prayer; they will be centers of learning and unity that fit into modern society, he added.
Marwan Ahmed Bin Ghalita, Director General of the Dubai Land Department, said the partnership between public and private sectors is key to Dubai’s goal of building strong and sustainable communities. The efforts of real estate developers in supporting this initiative show their deep commitment to improving society. At the Dubai Land Department, we will continue to encourage these efforts and support sustainable real estate development.
The total contribution for the Mosque Sponsorship Initiative has reached Dhs560 million. This money will be used to build and maintain mosques that will serve more than 50,000 worshippers. Emaar Properties gave Dhs280 million to build 42 mosques in nine locations, serving up to 29,696 worshippers. Azizi Developments donated Dhs80 million for three mosques in three areas, serving 7,000 people. Damac Properties contributed Dhs50 million for seven mosques in four locations, serving 3,600 worshippers. ORO 24 Developments provided Dhs50 million for six mosques in three locations, serving 3,300 worshippers. HRE Developments donated Dhs50 million for five mosques in three areas, with a capacity of 3,000 worshippers. Danube Properties gave Dhs50 million for four mosques in two locations, serving 3,200 worshippers.
This project supports corporate social responsibility and helps the community take part in charity work. It ensures mosques are well maintained and managed efficiently. It also aligns with the goals of Dubai 2033 under the Dubai Social Agenda 33 plan. The initiative will make mosques positive and sustainable centers for the community, following the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department’s vision, Closer to the Community.
Both IACAD and the Dubai Land Department believe this agreement will strengthen strategic partnerships between real estate developers and the wider community. They stressed that such efforts are crucial to creating a culture of sustainability and social responsibility. The goal is to make mosques not just places of worship but vibrant centers that benefit all people in Dubai.
