Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Reviews Dubai's First AI Report and Launches AI Policy at Dubai AI Week
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of the Dubai Future Foundation, recently visited Dubai AI Week 2025. During his visit, he reviewed the first edition of the Dubai State of AI Report and witnessed the launch of Dubai's new AI Policy for government entities.
Sheikh Hamdan highlighted the importance of the report, which shows how AI is changing government services in Dubai and tracks the progress of AI in different government departments. He said, "The impact of artificial intelligence is now visible in many areas, and the government sector is no exception. We want to make sure that Dubai's government entities are fully ready for the changes that AI will bring."

He also stressed the need for all government departments to work together, sharing knowledge and best practices to successfully use AI in government services.
The AI report and policy were launched by Digital Dubai and the Dubai Future Foundation (DFF) at the Digital Dubai Showcase during Dubai AI Week, which runs from April 21 to April 25. The event is sponsored by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan and is organized by the Dubai Centre for Artificial Intelligence, an initiative of DFF.
His Excellency Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, the Director General of Digital Dubai, was also present at the event. The report provides a detailed look at how AI is changing government services in Dubai. Developed by Digital Dubai in collaboration with DFF, the report covers more than 100 AI use cases across important sectors like healthcare, finance, urban planning, mobility, procurement, recruitment, and decision-making. Some of these AI projects are already working, while others are still being developed.
The report shows that Dubai has quickly moved from planning to real action, solidifying its position as a global leader in applying AI in government in an ethical and scalable way.
The new AI Policy for Government Entities was also announced during the event. This policy, which follows the discussions from the AI Retreat 2024, sets clear guidelines for using AI in all government departments. It focuses on making sure AI is easy to understand, human-centered, works well with other systems, and is regulated properly. This policy ensures that Dubai leads the way in using AI responsibly and ethically.
Together, the report and the policy provide a roadmap for how AI will be used in Dubai's government. They aim to make services more efficient, personalized, and data-driven, all while keeping citizens' needs at the center of everything.
The report also talks about how AI can improve people's lives, such as by helping with early disease detection, faster emergency response, personalized services, and better health planning. These efforts are part of Dubai's goal to become the most citizen-focused digital city in the world.
At Dubai AI Week, Digital Dubai also showed live examples of how AI is being used. These included intelligent hiring platforms, tools for better managing resources, and systems for making smarter decisions — all designed to help the city’s digital transformation.
The report ends with an ambitious plan for AI in Dubai by 2035. It highlights key areas like predicting public services, making government processes more flexible, developing affordable technology, creating environmentally friendly digital systems, and building a strong AI research and innovation community through public and private partnerships.
Together, the Dubai State of AI Report and the new AI Policy represent a big step forward for Dubai, moving from planning to actual, responsible use of AI across all government sectors.
