The floods caused by these rains have resulted in widespread damage. Media reports say that the rain might continue into Wednesday, January 8. Pictures shared on social media show the cities of Mecca and Medina partially submerged, highlighting the severity of the situation.
Mecca and Medina are two of the most important places for Muslims around the world. Every year, millions of Muslims visit these cities to perform Hajj and Umrah. However, the recent rains have completely changed the usual atmosphere in Saudi Arabia. Several cities across the country have been flooded due to the heavy rains, and there are warnings that the same weather conditions may continue.
The National Meteorological Centre (NMC) has predicted moderate to heavy rain, thunderstorms, and dust storms for the upcoming week. Yellow weather warnings have been issued for several areas.
The regions most affected by the heavy rains are AlUla and Al-Madina. One of the most significant landmarks in Al-Madina, Masjid-e-Nabawi, a sacred site for Muslims, was also flooded. Videos showing the mosque filled with water have gone viral, drawing attention to the severe weather conditions.
Due to the floods, movement is restricted in many places, and schools have been closed. Authorities have advised people to stay indoors and avoid unnecessary travel. Emergency services are on standby, ready to assist in any emergencies.
The government is working hard to manage the situation and ensure the safety of citizens. Weather experts have warned that this stormy weather could continue for a few more days. They have urged the public to stay alert and follow official advice to stay safe. The priority is to protect lives and reduce the impact of these extreme weather events.
