Four Dead As Drones Hit Homes In Ukraine's Kharkiv

Russia sent many flying drones to attack Ukraine. At least 4 people died, and 35 others got hurt in the city of Kharkiv, which is in the northeast part of Ukraine.

This is the fourth time this week that Kharkiv was hit like this. The flying machines (drones) crashed into homes and tall buildings, causing big fires.

Rescue workers searched all night to find people under the broken buildings. Early in the morning, the Mayor of Kharkiv, Ihor Terekhov, said, “Four people have died so far, and 35 are hurt. We also found another person’s body under the broken house.”

The Ukraine government office said they are trying to find out the names of those who died. They also shared that three of the hurt people are children.

The Ukraine army said they were able to shoot down 42 out of 78 drones. They also used special tools to fool or stop 22 more drones from reaching their targets.

Kharkiv has been attacked by drones almost every night this week. Before this, some of the city’s factories and power stations were also damaged.

In the early days of the war in 2022, Russian soldiers tried to take over Kharkiv and the capital city Kyiv. But they were pushed back. Now, Russia is attacking Kharkiv from the air.

Other places in Ukraine were also hurt by drone attacks the same night. These include Dnipropetrovsk, Kyiv, and Zaporizhzhia.

In the city of Dnipro, three people got hurt, and some buildings and services were damaged. The local leader said 13 drones were shot down there.

In the Kyiv region, two more people were hurt.

In Zaporizhzhia, seven drones hit different places, and one person got hurt, said the area’s leader.
