Emirates SkyCargo, the cargo division of Emirates Airline, has signed a new partnership with Teleport, which is the cargo partner for AirAsia. This partnership is aimed at improving trade between Southeast Asia and the rest of the world, using Dubai as a key hub.
The agreement was signed at the World Cargo Symposium organized by IATA. Badr Abbas, the Divisional Senior Vice President of Emirates SkyCargo, and Pete Chareonwongsak, the CEO of Teleport, both signed the agreement. Through this partnership, Emirates SkyCargo and Teleport plan to work on many projects to make cargo services better. These include adding more options for cargo transfers and making agreements to reserve cargo space, which will help businesses in Southeast Asia reach more global markets.

Teleport manages the bellyhold cargo space of all AirAsia airlines, making it the largest air logistics network in Southeast Asia. This includes airlines like AirAsia, AirAsia X, and others in Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, and Cambodia. In total, this network covers over 100 destinations, including smaller airports in Southeast Asia. In return, Teleport will now have access to Emirates' vast network, which reaches over 145 destinations, especially in Europe, Africa, and the US.
Badr Abbas commented, "For almost 35 years, we’ve been serving Southeast Asia, ensuring fast and reliable delivery of goods. This new partnership with Teleport and AirAsia will help us serve our customers even better by offering more capacity, flexibility, and access to new markets in Asia. It will also help connect Southeast Asia with Emirates’ global network."
Pete Chareonwongsak said, "2025 is a big year for Teleport as we grow our network to meet the global demand for e-commerce. Our partnership with Emirates is very important for us, as it allows us to expand both our air networks. This will help support the growing exports of Southeast Asia and allow easier shipping of e-commerce products from China to the Middle East, Africa, and Europe. E-commerce is expected to grow in Southeast Asia, making up 20% of the region’s air cargo by 2029. This partnership will help us meet that demand by providing faster and more reliable services."
Southeast Asia is a major manufacturing center for products like electronics, clothing, cars, and medicines. The partnership between Emirates and Teleport will help meet the growing demand for goods from this region, especially as the supply chains in Southeast Asia continue to improve. In 2024, about 2.5 million tons of cargo will be shipped from Southeast Asia, and this is expected to increase with more demand from industries and e-commerce.
The UAE and Southeast Asian countries have built strong economic ties in recent years. Agreements like the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreements (CEPA) between the UAE and countries like Malaysia, Indonesia, and Cambodia are helping improve trade between these regions. The partnership between Emirates SkyCargo and Teleport will further strengthen these ties and create more opportunities for global business growth.
Emirates SkyCargo began flying to Southeast Asia in June 1990, with flights to Singapore, Bangkok, and Manila. Today, Emirates operates 5 dedicated cargo planes and 176 passenger flights each week to 11 cities in Southeast Asia. More cities, like Siem Reap in Cambodia and Da Nang in Vietnam, will be added to the network in June 2025.
Teleport, which was founded in 2018, is a major logistics provider in Southeast Asia. It operates the largest air logistics network in the region, covering 80% of Southeast Asia. The Teleport Network moves everything from large cargo to small e-commerce packages quickly and reliably, reaching over 164 destinations across Asia Pacific through AirAsia’s fleet and more than 40 partner airlines. Teleport's goal is to ensure next-day delivery for customers across Southeast Asia.
