Dubai Intensifies Crackdown on Illegal Diesel Trade Practices

Dubai's crackdown on illegal practices in the diesel trade has intensified with the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy (DSCE) leading inspection campaigns aimed at ensuring compliance with UAE specifications and standards. Under DSCE Resolution No. 1 of 2022, a joint field inspection team comprising various entities including the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, Roads and Transport Authority, Dubai Municipality, and others has commenced rigorous monitoring operations.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of DSCE, emphasized the council's role in regulating the trading, transportation, storage, and distribution of diesel in Dubai. He highlighted the importance of these inspections in combating illegal practices that jeopardize sector safety and environmental integrity.

"Ensuring compliance with approved specifications for diesel is paramount. These campaigns underscore our commitment to fostering a fair trading environment, safeguarding consumer rights, and upholding standards," said Al Tayer.

Ahmad Buti Al Muhairbi, Secretary-General of DSCE and Chairman of Dubai Regulatory Committee for Petroleum Products, outlined the illegal activities targeted by the inspections. These include trading diesel that does not meet UAE specifications, unauthorized sales in unsafe locations, environmental pollution from leaks, and improper storage and transportation methods.

Burhan Al Hashemi, Vice Chairman of the Committee, praised the collaboration among government bodies in enforcing regulations and protecting public safety and organizational interests. He underscored the efforts to ensure compliance across the petroleum products sector and implement effective regulatory policies in Dubai.
