The Department of Community Development (DCD) in Abu Dhabi has held a series of Community Talks to bring people together and talk about important topics like family, culture, and community values. This event supports the UAE’s Year of Community, which aims to make families and society stronger.
This is the second year of the Community Talks. The sessions are held during Ramadan, a special time when people reflect and spend time with family. The goal is to help people understand the importance of family ties, unity, and national identity. These talks give everyone a chance to share their thoughts and learn more about how to keep families and communities strong.

Many important people joined these talks, including His Excellency Dr. Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, Chairman of DCD, and His Excellency Hamad Ali Al Dhaheri, Undersecretary at DCD. Senior officials, department staff, and members of the community also attended. Experts from different fields, such as family advisors, culture specialists, and content creators, spoke during the sessions. They shared useful ideas and answered questions from the public.
Her Excellency Sheikha Al Hosani, Executive Director of the Social Monitoring and Innovation Sector at DCD, said that these meetings are not just about talking but also about bringing people closer together. She explained that strong families help create a better future and that it is important to keep Emirati culture alive for the next generation.
The first session, called “The Year of the Community and Family – A Path to Sustainable Social Cohesion,” took place at Nabd Al Falah Community Centre. The discussion focused on family stability, how social groups help families, the importance of saving money, and the role of digital content in spreading good values.
The second session, called “Values and Heritage – Honouring the Past, Inspiring the Future,” was held at Bait Mohammed bin Khalifa in Al Ain. This session talked about how Emirati values and traditions help shape the country’s identity. The speakers discussed why it is important to protect these traditions and pass them on to young people. They also spoke about how digital media can help teach the new generation about Emirati culture, even in a world that is changing fast.
Through events like these, DCD is working to bring people together and strengthen national values. These talks help people feel that they belong to a community and encourage them to take part in building a stronger and more united society. By listening, learning, and sharing, everyone can help keep the UAE’s rich traditions alive while also looking towards the future.
