Post by: Raman Preet

New Delhi/Kolkata – The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is rigorously questioning Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, as part of its probe into the rape and murder of a doctor affiliated with the institution. The investigation has seen Ghosh subjected to intense interrogation sessions that have stretched until midnight over the past three days, with another round of questioning scheduled for today.

Key questions from the CBI have focused on several critical aspects of the case:

  1. Rush to Declare Suicide: The CBI has asked why there was an immediate push to classify the doctor's death as a suicide, raising concerns about the premature closure of the investigation.

  2. Crime Scene Management: Ghosh, being a medical professional, was questioned about his decision to not secure the crime scene properly, despite understanding the importance of preserving such evidence.

  3. Information Handling: Officials inquired about the advice given regarding the communication of information to the victim's family, particularly why the details shared were lacking in factual accuracy.

  4. Tampering with Evidence: The CBI queried why Ghosh did not prevent potential tampering with evidence at the crime scene, emphasizing that such actions are criminal offenses.

  5. Delay in Family Notification: Questions were raised about the several-hour delay in informing the doctor's family about the incident.

  6. Body Viewing Delay: The former principal was asked why there was a delay in presenting the body to the family, further complicating the case.

  7. Hospital Security: The investigation also sought details about the security arrangements in place at the hospital during the incident.

  8. Immediate Resignation: Ghosh’s sudden resignation two days after the incident has been questioned, with officials seeking explanations for his abrupt departure.

In addition to these questions, Ghosh has been probed about his actions immediately following the discovery of the doctor’s body and the unexpected renovation of rooms near the seminar hall where the body was found. The CBI is also reviewing Ghosh’s call records and chat history, requesting details of his phone communications before and after the incident. They plan to acquire his call and data usage records from the service provider for further scrutiny.

The rape and murder of the doctor, which occurred on August 9, has provoked widespread outrage across the country. In response, doctors have suspended non-emergency duties and staged protests demanding justice for the victim.

The CBI’s investigation continues to be a focal point of national attention, as authorities work to uncover the full circumstances surrounding this grievous crime and hold accountable those involved.
