Special Court in Pakistan Grants Interim Bail to Bushra Bibi, Ex-PM Imran Khan's Wife, in £190m Graft Case
A special court in Pakistan has granted interim bail to Bushra Bibi, the wife of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, in a significant development related to a £190 million graft case. This decision comes following a previous approval of bail for Khan himself by a two-member bench of the Islamabad High Court. The case alleges financial assistance received by the couple from a land developer to establish Al Qadir University.
However, despite this interim relief, Bushra Bibi remains incarcerated due to a separate sentence stemming from the annulment of her marriage to Khan on grounds of unlawfulness. Recently, their appeal to suspend these sentences was dismissed by a Pakistani court.

The legal saga began on February 3 when an Islamabad court convicted Khan and Bibi just days before general elections on February 8. The case originated from a complaint filed by Bibi's ex-husband, Khawar Fareed Maneka. Khan and his political party claim these charges were politically motivated to hinder his return to power.
In recent months, Pakistani courts have suspended Khan's sentences in two cases related to the alleged illegal acquisition and sale of state gifts, and overturned his conviction for leaking state secrets. Despite these legal battles, Khan, a former cricket superstar, continues to face numerous other ongoing legal challenges.
