Abu Dhabi Police have arrested 237 people for begging during the holy month of Ramadan. The police warned people not to give money to beggars and instead donate through official charity organizations.
Major Muslim Mohammed Al-Amiri, who is the deputy director of the Criminal Security Sector at Abu Dhabi Police, said that giving money to beggars encourages them to continue begging. It also pushes them to ask more people for money, making the problem worse.

The arrests were part of a campaign to stop begging during Ramadan. The police have been working hard to keep the city safe and prevent crimes linked to begging.
Earlier this month, Dubai Police also arrested 127 people during the first two weeks of their own anti-begging drive. This campaign started at the beginning of Ramadan to reduce begging and protect the public.
Authorities are asking people to donate only through trusted and legal charity groups. This way, they can be sure their money is going to those who truly need it, rather than supporting illegal activities.
