8 Illegal Residents Apprehended in Riyadh for Robberies

Saudi police in Riyadh have apprehended eight illegal residents accused of stealing vehicles and utilizing them in a string of robberies. According to a statement released by the authorities in Cairo, the suspects targeted under-construction buildings, pilfering building materials and possessions from security guards at gunpoint.

The law enforcement officials disclosed that the culprits had stolen two vehicles for their criminal activities. However, swift action by the authorities led to the recovery of the stolen vehicles. The suspects have since been referred to the public prosecution for further legal proceedings.

Saudi Arabia, with a population of approximately 32.2 million people, accommodates a significant expatriate workforce. Recent arrests by Saudi authorities underscore their commitment to maintaining law and order and curbing instances of criminal activity.

Earlier this month, Riyadh police detained several Bangladeshi expatriates following an altercation captured on video, which depicted public violence in the city. The altercation, stemming from an unspecified dispute, prompted police intervention.

In a separate incident in October, Saudi authorities arrested six women involved in a physical altercation at a coffee shop in H’ail, located in north-western Saudi Arabia. A video of the brawl, circulated widely on social media, showcased the women exchanging blows and kicks while bystanders looked on in shock.

Additionally, Riyadh police announced the arrest of individuals suspected of involvement in a car collision and shooting incident in the Al Kharj governorate, situated southeast of the Saudi capital. The altercation, stemming from an unspecified disagreement, resulted in two fatalities and two injuries.

In a similar vein, Saudi law enforcement took action against 10 Yemeni expatriates implicated in a large-scale altercation in Riyadh late last year. The brawl, which left two individuals wounded, underscores the authorities' commitment to upholding public safety and order in the kingdom.
