A 66-year-old woman in Germany has amazed many by giving birth to her 10th child. On March 19, Alexandra Hildebrandt delivered a healthy baby boy named Philipp at Charité Hospital in Berlin. The baby, born through a cesarean section, weighed 7 pounds and 13 ounces.
Hildebrandt, who works as a museum director, shared that she had no trouble getting pregnant and did not use any fertility drugs. She revealed that she conceived naturally. She said her pregnancy was smooth and without major complications.
Philipp is now the youngest among Hildebrandt's 10 children. His older siblings include Svitlana, 46; Artiom, 36; Elisabeth, 12; Maximilian, 12; Alexandra, 10; Leopold, 8; Anna, 7; Maria, 4; and Katharina, 2.
In an interview, Hildebrandt expressed her joy of having a large family. She described it as "wonderful" and important for raising children with strong values. When asked if her friends and family were worried about her having a child at her age, she said she had only received positive support.

In a conversation with the German newspaper Bild, Hildebrandt explained that she follows a healthy lifestyle. She said she doesn’t smoke or drink and has never used birth control. To stay fit, she eats nutritious food, swims for an hour daily, and walks for two hours.
Her OB/GYN, Dr. Wolfgang Henrich, described the pregnancy as "largely uncomplicated," which is unusual for someone her age.
However, some medical experts were surprised by her natural pregnancy. Dr. Brian Levine, a fertility specialist in New York, said it is extremely rare for a 66-year-old woman to conceive without fertility treatment. He also pointed out the potential risks of late pregnancies, such as high blood pressure, diabetes, and preterm labor. There is also a higher chance of the baby having chromosomal issues, like Down syndrome.
Levine mentioned that if Hildebrandt has polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), a condition that affects the ovaries, she may not have gone through menopause yet. This could explain how she was still able to conceive.
Interestingly, in 2023, a 70-year-old woman named Safina Namukwaya in Uganda gave birth to twins through in vitro fertilization (IVF) using donor eggs and her husband’s sperm. Namukwaya described the experience as a blessing, saying that no one can limit God's power.
Hildebrandt's case, however, is unique because she became pregnant naturally at an age when most women have already gone through menopause. Her story has sparked curiosity and admiration around the world.
