Queensland, Australia — At this year’s Queensland Athletics Championships, 16-year-old sprinter Gout Gout electrified the crowd by running the 100 meters in just 10.2 seconds, coming remarkably close to Usain Bolt's world record. The young athlete, who was born in Australia to Sudanese parents, exhibited a breathtaking finish, completing the final 60 meters with exceptional speed and leaving the second-place finisher about 10 yards behind.
Gout's performance has captivated fans and the athletic community alike, especially given his previous accomplishments. Just last year, he set a new national under-18 200-meter record at the Australian Junior Athletics Championships in Brisbane, clocking 20.87 seconds, a mere 0.30 seconds shy of Bolt's record for athletes of the same age.

Videos of Gout’s stunning sprint quickly spread across social media, sparking a wave of enthusiastic reactions from internet users:
This impressive performance follows the recent excitement in sprinting, with US sprinter Noah Lyles clinching gold in the closest 100m final in modern Olympic history at Paris 2024. Lyles edged out his competitors with a time of 9.79 seconds, a razor-thin margin separating the top four finishers. Despite his earlier struggles in the heats and semi-finals, Lyles proved his mettle in the final, outperforming Jamaica's Kishane Thompson and US rival Fred Kerley to secure the gold. Italy’s Marcell Jacobs, the surprising 100m winner at the Tokyo Olympics, finished fifth despite posting a season’s best of 9.85 seconds.
The results underscore the high level of competition in sprinting, with American athletes particularly eager to claim dominance in the event after a long hiatus since Justin Gatlin’s victory at the 2004 Athens Games. This year’s championships have reignited excitement and anticipation for future sprinting feats, with emerging talents like Gout Gout pushing the boundaries of speed and athleticism
