British police have charged comedian and actor Russell Brand, who is 50 years old, with rape and assault. These charges are linked to events that happened between 1999 and 2005. Russell Brand, who was once married to pop singer Katy Perry and was famous in the UK for his comedy and TV work, has recently focused on being an online social commentator.

The police said that Brand, who lives in Oxfordshire, was charged with one count of rape, one count of indecent assault, one count of oral rape, and two counts of sexual assault. These charges are related to four different women.
The police have said their investigation is still ongoing. They have asked anyone who has been affected by this case or anyone who has more information to come forward and speak to them.
