Dubai is set to host the 5th edition of the UAE SWAT Challenge, and the prize money has seen a substantial increase from $170,000 to $260,000. The event will take place at the Training City in Al Ruwayyah from February 3 to February 7, with Dubai Police serving as hosts.
This year's challenge promises to be a remarkable spectacle, as a record-breaking 87 teams from 48 countries have registered, showcasing the event's global appeal. Notably, there are five all-women teams and two mixed teams participating.
Spectators, including residents and tourists, can attend the event for free. Moreover, visitors have the unique opportunity to engage in their own SWAT-style competitions. The venue will feature attractions such as cooking stations in a special heritage village and stalls where individuals can try on local outfits.
The competition will consist of various challenges, including the Tactical competition, obstacle course, officer rescue, tower challenge, and assault competition. Each challenge demands a combination of tactical skills, physical prowess, and overall proficiency from the participating teams.
The prize distribution is structured to recognize outstanding performance, with the top team receiving $80,000. Subsequent awards include $40,000 for the second-place team, $30,000 for the third, and $15,000 for the fourth. Additionally, cash prizes are allocated for the remaining top 10 teams.
Daily challenges will also be acknowledged, with the first-place team receiving $5,000, followed by $3,000 and $2,000 for the second and third teams, respectively.
Dubai Police is not only emphasizing physical competitions but also venturing into the realm of e-sports. A special edition e-sports tournament will feature 40 players across eight teams competing in 'Counter Strike 2' and 'Valorant'. The total prize money for this e-sports event is set at Dh50,000.
This year's edition of the UAE SWAT Challenge marks a significant milestone with the inclusion of eight new teams, making it the largest competition in terms of the number of participating teams. The event continues to grow in stature and popularity, highlighting its importance on the global stage.
