The United Arab Emirates and Ireland have made a new agreement to work together more closely in business and technology. This agreement, called a Memorandum of Understanding, or MoU, will help both countries talk more and work together in many areas. These areas include trade, clean energy, building things, food safety, health care, and new technology. They will also look at ways to protect nature and share important ideas.
A new group, called the Joint Economic Committee, will be made. This group will help plan visits between business people and help both sides understand each other’s markets better. It will also help solve any problems that stop trade from growing. Both countries will join events like business fairs and meetings to show their products and make new friends.
Dr. Al Zeyoudi said that the UAE and Ireland trust each other and want to grow together. He said this deal shows how serious they are about working as partners and finding good chances to invest.
Ms. Smyth said she was happy with how the UAE welcomed her. She said this deal is special because it comes at a time when the UAE and Ireland are celebrating 50 years of friendship. She believes the new group will help them do more together in schools, science, flying, green energy, and health care. She also said Ireland is happy to work more with a country like the UAE, which has a strong and fast-growing economy.
Ms. Smyth also thanked groups like Enterprise Ireland, Bord Bia, and Tourism Ireland for helping grow the friendship between the two countries. She said their hard work made this strong relationship possible.
Today, over 1,000 Irish companies have their names registered in the UAE, including big ones like Stripe and Kentech Group. There have been earlier deals, like one between Dubai’s Roads and Transport office and Enterprise Ireland. These show how both countries are already working well together.
In 2024, the trade between the UAE and Ireland (not counting oil) reached $1.1 billion. That’s a big jump from $694 million in 2019. With this new deal and the new committee, both countries hope to grow trade even more and help each other in many ways.
