During the Abu Dhabi Global Health Week (ADGHW) 2025, the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH) signed five important agreements with top health and technology organizations from Russia. These agreements are the result of a visit by the DoH team to Russia earlier this year, aiming to make the relationship between Russia and the UAE even stronger in healthcare.

The signing event was attended by His Excellency Mansoor Al Mansoori, Chairman of the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, and His Excellency Mikhail Murashko, the Russian Minister of Health. The five agreements were signed with well-known Russian groups: the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT), the biotech company BIOCAD, Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Skoltech), Sechenov University, and the Dmitry Rogachev National Research Center.

These partnerships aim to improve research, attract new investments, and share knowledge between the two countries. The goal is to bring better healthcare to both the UAE and Russia while making Abu Dhabi a leading place for health research and science.

Her Excellency Dr. Noura Khamis Al Ghaithi, Undersecretary of DoH, mentioned that these agreements are part of Abu Dhabi’s vision to create a smart healthcare system using technology, data, and science. She added that these partnerships show the commitment of both countries to working together for better health outcomes and innovations.

The agreements focus on different goals. With MIPT, the aim is to explore new treatments like gene therapy and improve ways to test babies before birth. The agreement with BIOCAD will help bring new healthcare products to the market and support investments in new health ideas. The partnership with Sechenov University is about working together on research, training young scientists, and sharing knowledge. The deal with Skoltech strengthens the ties between health researchers in both countries, allowing them to collaborate on projects and global health events. The agreement with the Dmitry Rogachev National Research Center focuses on improving healthcare for children, especially using new treatments like CAR-T therapy, and sharing best practices for infection control.

These agreements are a big step in improving both countries' healthcare systems and encouraging faster discoveries in medicine. They also create more opportunities for learning and collaboration.

Abu Dhabi Global Health Week is a major event organized by DoH. It brings together people from around the world to discuss how to improve health and well-being. The theme for this year’s event is “Towards Longevity: Redefining Health and Well-being,” with a focus on preventing illness, providing personal care, and improving health systems in the long run.

The event focuses on four main ideas: helping people live longer and healthier, making health systems strong and lasting, using technology to improve healthcare, and investing in life sciences. ADGHW is helping make Abu Dhabi a key player in shaping the future of health and well-being for people all over the world.
